Sat, 17 Jul 2010 13:06:10 +0000 hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=1820 By: Steven Burstein http://www.thehumorblog.com/welcome-to-our-british-comedy-blog/5/comment-page-1/#comment-1262 Steven Burstein Thu, 29 Oct 2009 20:47:10 +0000 http://www.thehumorblog.com/?p=5#comment-1262 I grew up wanting to be Monty Python(Specifically John Cleese), but in my old age I prefer Tony Hancock.I discovered him through videocassettes from Canada's BFS which are now out of print(but you can see him on YouTube).But back when I was in my teens I'd go crazy playing 'Six Degrees of John Cleese'I was very excited to find Cleese and Chapman in "Magic Christian" and told everybody about it back in '76-even if they didn't want to hear it!I learned about the existance of ".....1948 Show"from a book about David Frost and kept chewing people's ears off about that.And on It went, every time I learnt about another credit for Mr. Cleese.(Of course this was the US, where we barely saw him 'till the 1975 Python invasion.In England it wouldn't have been such a big deal-I can't wait until some foriegner drives me crazy about Gilligan's Island!)
